Now also an art journal. [19 Oct 2006|10:18am]
[ mood | artistic ]

Hi everyone!

Thanks to all of you who keep up with this journal. As well as my original music compositions and music reviews, I'm now expanding this journal to my art journal. I churn out art much faster than I do music, (not that either are very often, but better than letting this stagnant journal die) so maybe I'll manage to keep it alive for a while. :)

Today is the notice of this expansion, and also three new art pieces (2 fanart, one original). You can also see all of this at my account at deviantart if you prefer that.

Crossposted to pikacello. Sorry, overlapping folks!

Maroon 5- This Love [10 Nov 2005|04:02pm]
[ mood | calm ]

Here is a temporary upload of Maroon 5's "This Love." made possible by putfile.
It's from the Album "Songs about Jane." Find out more about Maroon 5 here. LA-based band.

Overall, I love this song. It got pretty popular like.. half a year ago, I want to say. While there are things in diatonic analysis that make it freaking awesome, there are also things about it that are beyond analysis that make it awesome.

here is my analysis!Collapse )

So overall, here is a summary of it:

First section, verses: based on the bebop scale? Also possibly playing with the idea of 2 keys, c minor and Eb Major. They relate in diatonic theory.
Chorus: Effective movement in the harmonic line with really amazing movement in the melodic line. 3 notes on top of 2 different key areas. Amazing!
Bridge to ending: standard, but totally effective (returns to tonic). Doesn't help that the instrumentalists and singers are freaking awesome, and the lyrics kick everyone's ass.

Overall a 9/10!!

Hello and welcome! [04 Nov 2005|01:00pm]
[ mood | calm ]

Hello everyone!
This journal will be where I post my latest interests and analyses on music. Also, I will post my latest personal works as well, and anything else music-related that I find amusing. It is a temporary place, however, as the final place of rest for all of this will go on a website someday.

I firmly believe that music is one of the most effective unifying forces in the universe, and the most powerful.

I hope this encourages musical discussion as well. Please feel free to comment on anything I post here, and also to provide your own opinion about things. Discussion is healthy.

If anyone would like to use any pieces composed by me or files that I upload, please let me know first.

   Thanks for visiting.
